I started carpet cleaning in 1987 and used products that worked very well. But I did not know that they were bad for me, the owner operator, to breathe day after day. It was not until 6 to 7 years later that I started to feel nausea when spraying the products. At first I just thought I had a flu bug or something. I did not realize it was the products I was using until I took a much needed 2 week vacation. About the third day I was away from the job I started to feel better. After five days I felt great. When I got back to work after vacation, the first job, when I started pre-spraying, it all started to come back. I realized then that it was the cleaning products I was using. Since I’ve switched to All Natural Cleaning Products, all the symptoms have left.

I owned and managed a Maid Referral Service for 7 years. After about 5 years of using the typical cleaners I began getting recurring cases of bronchitis. I was always sick, but my M.D. couldn't figure out why. He just kept telling me I was developing chronic bronchitis. At the worst point, I had developed 3 new cases of bronchitis three months in a row; in the third month my illness developed into pneumonia, and then that developed into dangerous hyperthyroid disease. At that point the doctors were telling me I was going to die if I didn't take radioactive medicine to destroy my thyroid so it would quit producing so much hormone. Instead, I went to an Ayurveda physician who helped me cure the disease in a more natural manner and I didn't have to use such a drastic method of so-called healing. He also confirmed my suspicion that the harsh, smelly cleaning chemicals were the major contributor to the constant illnesses. I stopped using them completely!
In the 15 years since, any recurrences of bronchitis have been very few and directly attributable to contagion and I have not had ANY recurrence of the hyperthyroid. Any time I get around standard cleaning agents I start getting a stuffy, runny nose, headaches, and have trouble breathing...even walking down the cleaning aisle of the grocery store. But when I use natural cleaning products I never have those problems.

Hi My name is Olin, I 'm Owner / Operator of my Carpet cleaning business in Canada , and I have exactly the same experience !! Fist year in my business I have worked as subcontractor for one local company, who recommended certain types of chemicals.( cheapest and smelly one) I was young, inexperienced, and did not have any idea how dangerous they might be !! Then I started reading MSDS sheets and was horrified !! After I started my own business, I use only the safest cleaning products available, and trust me, my customers are just loving that and business is just booming !!

I first started out working for Merry Maids. I learned the ropes, then started my own cleaning business in may of 2000. I am still going strong, working six days a week. I love owning my own business, and I take pride in my work. Using strong chemicals on a daily basis has become a health problem. I feel that I have developed allergies. My lungs also burn after using certain chemicals. There are a lot of cleaning products that also may cause damage to the surfaces that you are cleaning. It would be great to find products that were safe for me and the expensive homes that I clean.

When my children were younger I was a fanatic about keeping our home clean. Of course like most people I used the toxic cleaners that you purchase at the local grocery store. I started becoming very tired and my immune system was becoming depleted. After visiting Doctors for two years to discover what was wrong with me, they finally came to the conclusion that I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The Doctors didn't really now what to do for me, so I did my own research. I then discovered that one of the things I could do to improve my health was to quit using toxic chemicals in my home, (Cleaning Products). So I switched to all natural cleaning products along with other changes in my lifestyle. My health improved greatly. I have used Biokleen products for some time now and I love them. They not only are safe but work great and smell really nice.

I run a business where I care for elderly people with dementia. I was introduced to bac-out and seventh generation liquid laundry soap. I absolutely love it. My home does not smell like a nursing home. People walk in and say how wonderful my home smells for the type of business we do. I also have 2 cats and 2 dogs, people are surprised when they see them because they can't smell them. The laundry soap is great, I don't have to worry about who is going to have an allergic reaction, not like the feel of their clothing, not completely getting stains out, or smells and then end up with 5 different detergents for each resident. I used name brand detergents and non brand, but this liquid detergent that is natural beats all detergents. I use the laundry soap and bac-out the most. I forgot, I use the dishwasher detergent as well. Love it, no residue and cleans wonderfully, gets stains out of plastic, it is good for your dishwasher, no build- up or clogging. Biodegradable is wonderfull! I have not tried the other cleaning supplies like degreaser and window cleaner, etc. yet, but looking forward to, soon.

In the last yeah I have had difficulty breathing. Thinking it was a heart issue(since my mom just had a heart attack and my dad dies of one) I had a CT scan only to find the problem was my lungs. After doctors checked me out they determined it was chemicals. I always used the "citrus" type chemicals and strong powders from a local supplier because they cut the grease quickly and dissolved completely. Little did I know that nice smell floating up from the Hydro-force spraying, and the dust from mixing the powders was making it so difficult to breathe, I would have to sit down 4-5 times a night because I couldn't get enough air. Gotta find a better way!
